A spot of sunshine

As a reward for nearly finishing the Olympic job we had planned to spend a week in slightly more predictable sunshine so after finding the cheapest option careful consideration, we chose Tunisia. We won't mention that at one stage when I was tired, I called it Tanzaninia. I like to call it, invent your own country. LOL
The hotel was lovely and right on the beach. Our room had a lovely view of the water & the sound of the waves was very therapeutic.
Lovely view of the moonrise & the sunrise from our balcony

As you can see there are some beautiful details in the architecture. Interesting to spend time in a truly desert country. The country is clearly suffering from a lack of growth in the economy like loads of countries but most of the people were just lovely.
We won't go into details of the ones trying to chat me up (bear in mind that I am fat & fifty). Apparently getting a foreign passport is a legitimate career. I feel sorry for them & would probably do the same thing in their circumstances.
Sadly, 2 days after we left, someone assassinated the opposition leader & it is likely to kick off trouble again. Very bad news for the people who like you & I are just trying to get on with their lives. I hope that it does not progress to full on civil war.

Some of the things that really cracked us up was how our room was "detailed" each day. Yes, that is my nighty in a frilly pose. Our lady was lovely, we only wished we could have spoken her language but we seemed to get along in broken Franglaise & hand signals.

I can recommend the place, t'was funny to see the Brits & German tourists out by the pool in swimmers & the locals rugged up in their winter gear. Temperature is relative.

We did some cultural stuff while there, went to El Djem which is the site for the 3rd largest but most intact Roman Colosseum in the world and went to a fantastic museum that has most of the Roman mosaics found all over the country. To say I was blown away is an understatement. I could have been there all day. I won't bore you with too many photos but trust me I took loads!!

Some terrific geometric patterns in these mosaics and an owl! Nothing is new, everything has been done before. It drives me nucking futs when people bang on about how they have come up with a great new design. Seriously, don't take yourself so seriously. LOL

Anyhoo, I am almost caught up with things I want to document in posts. My trip to Oz is next but I have to go finish unpacking the sewing room & catch up on some very overdue bee blocks first. Oh and do some baking for the business, marketing for the business, chasing up events for the business etc etc etc. You get the idea.

Loving what I do (but I would love the weather to get warmer & sunnier please?)

No time to post.....

Soooo freaking busy trying to get the business off the ground.

and lets not even go there with the mess that is apparently my sewing room.

Is it really Only 2 weeks since I was here??

Had a massive strategic planning session yesterday, much thanks to my darling Prince for the help. Feeling much more in control now I have a plan & lists.

Back when I have a chance.

IT'S SNOWING!!!! YIPEEEEEE!!!!

Look, I know it's hardly as good as Canada or North America or hundreds of other places but for a girl from a country where it is currently nearing 50 celcius & on fire, you can understand my excitement. I surprised the Prince by stating that this is why I was here LOL. Well there are loads of other reasons (The Prince being the MAIN one of course) but snow is a damn good one in my books.
I had it on good authority this week, from a local taxi driver no less & we know how accurate they are about stuff, that no, we would definitely not have any snow.
Thank goodness he was wrong. I missed the snow last year as I was back in Australia & I really thought that I was going to miss out this year but this morning we awoke to light flurries that got heavier & heavier as the day progressed. It stopped at around 5pm, so all up around 12 hours of snow or 4 inches (deeper in parts because of the drifts).
Not sure how the plants are going to cope but I want the bins to look this pretty all the time LOL
Finally snow on the Xmas tree
The front yard with The Prince's footprints after putting peanuts out for the squirrel
Howdy neighbours! Looks just like a post card!
Of course no snow day would be complete without a trip to the seafront because let's face it snow & sea?? Bonus!!!

Snow people & beach huts? Absolutely!!
I have been grinning like a Cheshire cat all day. I know one day I may whinge about the delays it causes but today is NOT that day. Can't think of a better post to be my 100th.

London weekend

Two of the Princes family had birthdays last weekend so we all gathered in London to celebrate the events. Lunch at Moro was delicious and as a bonus I managed to see the shop where one brother works as a goldsmith.
In an attempt to reduce the number of train trips for the Prince & as a bit of enjoyment we booked into a hotel for the evening. After lunch, The Prince & I wandered off to our hotel & went straight for the pool & spa area. After a good long soak in the jacuzzi we felt much warmer and relaxed.

View from our room, that's the Tower Bridge on the left.
London Church of the Catholic Martyrs
I am always blown away by how you are right in the thick of history at every turn here. I am reading the book, The Watchers, The Prince gave me for Christmas. It is about the spy network during the reign of Elizabeth the 1st and describes the Catholic attempts to bring England back to the "real church". This church celebrates the Catholic martyrs. Love this stuff, never gets old, pardon the pun.
See the light dusting of snow on the roof of the building on the right?
Close up of the church door.
I decided to run away to the V & A for a visit, I could live in this museum, every time I go I find another section that I have not seen. I was heading for the jewellery rooms & ran across these monoliths. How they managed to get them into the rooms is a mystery, I suspect they built the museum around them??

As you can see from the size of the people, this thing is MASSIVE!!!
I love that they have a large section where the conservators are working in the public view. There is a man on the top of this scaffolding working on the stone pillar.

Skulls & cross bones are nothing new as a design feature. The little coffin is adorable.
Some fantastic little boxes & watches etc. It was just after this that I got told I could not take photos in the jewellery section. Ooops, didn't stop me, or anyone else in the room LOL.

Loving what I get to do
