IT'S SNOWING!!!! YIPEEEEEE!!!!

Look, I know it's hardly as good as Canada or North America or hundreds of other places but for a girl from a country where it is currently nearing 50 celcius & on fire, you can understand my excitement. I surprised the Prince by stating that this is why I was here LOL. Well there are loads of other reasons (The Prince being the MAIN one of course) but snow is a damn good one in my books.
I had it on good authority this week, from a local taxi driver no less & we know how accurate they are about stuff, that no, we would definitely not have any snow.
Thank goodness he was wrong. I missed the snow last year as I was back in Australia & I really thought that I was going to miss out this year but this morning we awoke to light flurries that got heavier & heavier as the day progressed. It stopped at around 5pm, so all up around 12 hours of snow or 4 inches (deeper in parts because of the drifts).
Not sure how the plants are going to cope but I want the bins to look this pretty all the time LOL
Finally snow on the Xmas tree
The front yard with The Prince's footprints after putting peanuts out for the squirrel
Howdy neighbours! Looks just like a post card!
Of course no snow day would be complete without a trip to the seafront because let's face it snow & sea?? Bonus!!!

Snow people & beach huts? Absolutely!!
I have been grinning like a Cheshire cat all day. I know one day I may whinge about the delays it causes but today is NOT that day. Can't think of a better post to be my 100th.

London weekend

Two of the Princes family had birthdays last weekend so we all gathered in London to celebrate the events. Lunch at Moro was delicious and as a bonus I managed to see the shop where one brother works as a goldsmith
In an attempt to reduce the number of train trips for the Prince & as a bit of enjoyment we booked into a hotel for the evening. After lunch, The Prince & I wandered off to our hotel & went straight for the pool & spa area. After a good long soak in the jacuzzi we felt much warmer and relaxed.

View from our room, that's the Tower Bridge on the left.
London Church of the Catholic Martyrs
I am always blown away by how you are right in the thick of history at every turn here. I am reading the book, The Watchers, The Prince gave me for Christmas. It is about the spy network during the reign of Elizabeth the 1st and describes the Catholic attempts to bring England back to the "real church". This church celebrates the Catholic martyrs. Love this stuff, never gets old, pardon the pun.
See the light dusting of snow on the roof of the building on the right?
Close up of the church door.
I decided to run away to the V & A for a visit, I could live in this museum, every time I go I find another section that I have not seen. I was heading for the jewellery rooms & ran across these monoliths. How they managed to get them into the rooms is a mystery, I suspect they built the museum around them??

As you can see from the size of the people, this thing is MASSIVE!!!
I love that they have a large section where the conservators are working in the public view. There is a man on the top of this scaffolding working on the stone pillar.

Skulls & cross bones are nothing new as a design feature. The little coffin is adorable.
Some fantastic little boxes & watches etc. It was just after this that I got told I could not take photos in the jewellery section. Ooops, didn't stop me, or anyone else in the room LOL.

Seweurobeean blocks

So I have to admit that since I moved here to the new house, I have really been struggling to find the blocks that everyone sent me for my first ever bee. I was sure I had put them in a box so I searched everywhere, unpacked everything, searched again and all to no avail.

Finally the other evening (after my never to be spoken of again rejection :( ) I decided I needed to stroke fabric would move the rest of my stuff up to the sewing room including my Gplan chest of drawers.
Now I have to say I had opened these drawers hundreds of times looking for the blocks but it took taking the drawers completely out to see the back of the drawers & there were the blocks. Mocking my incompetent searching. I think they even had their tongues sticking out at me. Meanies.
The first flop
My little helper
Clearly not happy with my placement
Nice!
Now to fur up the other tops in the room LOL
Afternoon tea
After my disaster the other night, I decided to remember good friends & make a friends slice recipe for afternoon tea. The Prince came into the kitchen, looked into the tray & said "OOooh Dotty Lee slice, YUM!" It is indeed, on both counts.

Loving what I do.

Well that was a waste of lipstick!!

Even though some days in some areas of my life I am super confident, like most people I am also very shy & it takes a lot for me to step out & introduce myself to new people.
I was delighted to discover a quilt group at my local community centre & tonight I finally girded my loins & wandered up the road to join in with the local quilt group.
Imagine my delight when from the street I spied a cutting ruler & mat & bags of fabric & obvious quilters.
Imagine my crumpled mood when I walked in & was told by one of the women "Oh no, there used to be a group here but they have moved to "blah" (suburb miles from me & I have no car). They are happy to take new members but we are a private group."

Crushed??? Hell yeah!!! Pouting much?? Defo!!!

Sod them. Gonna start my own group now. Big room, sea glimpses, I can make coffees & cook stuff. Anyone wanna join me?

Loving what I do, even if I have to do it alone. Going to eat worms. LOL

My future

My little truck has finally arrived!! Very exciting & nervous making but I am really looking forward to the next chapter & hopefully some money making finally.

We just won't mention that I am allergic to coffee myself. LOL

Loving what I am intending to do.

Yes! We have a seam sewn!!!

Like always, it has been a very busy couple of weeks in my life & there has been no sewing done. In fact I had not even had time to plug Eartha in!!
I am so grateful for this room but I must admit that I am feeling overwhelmed when I think of how to arrange the furniture & have been a bit frozen. This is totally ridiculous when you consider that the furniture will not be here until February.
Why does my anxiety wrack me like this?? Clearly I like to get it in early.

I decided that I had to get a grip & so off I went to the garret & got on with it!! One seam does not seem like much but when I am in this frozen mood, it is sometimes just the push I need.

The colour is appalling in these shots as I took them at night.
Let's see how long it takes me to get to the all important second seam. LOL

Trying to do what I love
